The Role
We are seeking an experienced Building Services Manager to take on a pivotal leadership role, acting as the key liaison between us and the Auckland District Council. This strategic and hands-on position focuses on delivering exceptional facilities management and operational services while ensuring we meet and exceed client expectations.
As we transition to a self-delivery model, you’ll play a critical role in leading our building and infrastructure team, driving this shift while maintaining strong relationships with the Council and ensuring the seamless delivery of services, including building, plumbing, and electrical.
Key aspects of the role include:
- Leading the building and infrastructure teams to provide high-quality services and meet KPIs.
- Drive the team’s transition to a self-delivery model, ensuring alignment with strategic goals.
- Foster a strong, collaborative relationship with the Council.
- Oversee the maintenance and compliance of building assets and infrastructure.
- Manage project delivery, ensuring timelines, budgets, and customer expectations are met.
- Drive safety, quality, and environmental standards across all operations.
- Ensure financial control through budgeting, invoicing, and cost management, while delivering on profitability targets.
- Regularly liaise with Auckland Council to ensure that service standards and expectations are met.
- Lead teams to ensure high levels of engagement, productivity, and performance.
What We're Looking For
- At least 5 years of senior facilities or operations management experience, ideally within the public sector or in a role involving significant client liaison.
- Proven experience managing contracts, projects, and teams within a large-scale operational environment.
- A degree-level qualification in a relevant field, with trade certifications being highly advantageous.
- Strong financial management skills, including budgeting, invoicing, and cost control.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and build relationships at all levels.
- A proactive mindset with a focus on continuous improvement.
- High-level understanding of safety, compliance, and quality assurance standards.
- Full driver’s licence.
