At Green by Nature, we’re proud to be one of New Zealand’s leading green space management companies. Since our roots were planted in 1992, we’ve grown to a team of over 1,500 across New Zealand and Australia. We maintain beautiful public spaces – from parks and playgrounds to gardens and community facilities – and we’re passionate about enhancing our natural environment.
As we continue to grow, we’re looking for more great people to join our team. If you love working outdoors and making a real difference in your community, this could be the perfect role for you.
About the role
Based within the Ōtautahi Community Housing Trust, you’ll play an important part in keeping gardens and green spaces looking their best. Reporting to the Operations Manager and working closely with your crew, your daily tasks will include:
- Planting, pruning, weeding, and general vegetation control
- Looking after garden beds, borders, rose gardens, and shrubs
- Working from a clear and organised schedule to ensure high-quality outcomes
- Keeping safety front of mind – for residents, your team, and yourself
Who we're looking for
Ideally, we'd love someone with hands-on gardening experience or a qualification in horticulture, but that's not essential. What really matters is having a solid work ethic, a passion for working outdoors, and a willingness to roll up your sleeves and get stuck in. Other qualities we seek include:
- A full, current driver's licence with the ability to drive a manual vehicle
- A sense of responsibility and ownership over your work, while being a team player who's always ready to help your mates
- An understanding of health and safety practices relevant to the job
- Great communication skills, with the ability to engage with the public if needed
- A motivated, can-do attitude, and the drive to see the job through
What we can offer you
As part of our team, you'll have the opportunity to work with other professionals, gain further knowledge and experience, and develop your career in horticulture. We offer regular work hours, a performance-based salary that is reviewed annually, and an annual wellness benefits. You'll also receive an annual tool allowance and work phone.
Next Steps
If you’re ready to take the next step and join a company that has been an industry leader for more than 30 years, we’d love to hear from you. Apply today and join us in making remarkable green spaces!
In accordance with the Company's Drug & Alcohol Policy, the successful candidate will be required to undergo and pass a pre-employment drug test. You will also need to complete a criminal record check.
