At Green by Nature, we’re proud to be one of Auckland Council’s trusted service providers, responsible for maintaining many of the region’s parks, playgrounds, public spaces, and facilities. We’re now looking for an Operations Manager to lead our Facilities Team, ensuring the continued delivery of exceptional service while continuing the excellent work already established.
About The Role
Reporting to the Facilities Maintenance Manager, you’ll play a key role in ensuring seamless day-to-day operations that meet contract requirements and create safe, well-maintained spaces for the community. You’ll have three direct reports, who collectively lead a team of 80-90 staff, overseeing a range of essential services, including:
🚻 Building and Public Facility Cleaning - toilets, community buildings, council owned buildings and other public amenities
🧹 Streetscape Maintenance - bins, street sweeping, water blasting, and other urban maintenance tasks
🪠Response Operations for any urgent call outs
What You’ll Bring
We’re looking for a confident, hands-on leader with industry experience who thrives in fast-paced environments. You’ll be a strategic thinker and problem-solver, making sound decisions to guide your Area Managers through sometimes unexpected challenges. Key skills and attributes include:
- Leadership & People Management – Proven experience in recruitment, performance management, staff engagement, and training & development
- Financial Acumen – Ability to set targets, manage budgets, and analyse operational initiatives to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget
- Communication & Stakeholder Management – Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships with internal teams and external clients
- Commitment to Safety – A proactive approach to health and safety, ensuring best practices and a strong safety culture.
- A Get-It-Done Attitude – You'll be solutions-focused, adaptable, and can make decisions quickly to keep things moving
- Full NZ Driver’s Licence – Must be able to drive a manual vehicle
