About the Centre
The Inner West YMCA operates three community centres in the Footscray, Braybrook, and Moonee Valley areas. These centres offer a variety of programs and services for people of all ages and abilities, including: Multi-sports stadiums, Health clubs, Community halls, Rooms and Gymnastics facilities
About the Role
As a Sports Program Officer, you will be responsible for providing coaching experiences for participants at RecWest YMCA. The Sports Programs officer will enjoy working in a team-based environment, have a genuine concern for, and interest in the wellbeing and educational needs of participants. You will plan and deliver challenging and developmentally appropriate programs for all participants. Your role will involve:
- Instructing and interacting with participants and guardians providing effective direction, feedback and support
- Displaying interest, enthusiasm, patience, respect and innovation to participants and peers
- Constructing and implementing lesson plans that promote group-teaching methods, combining skill development with fun, physical activity and enhancing the developmental assets aspect of YMCA programs
- Delivering fun and inclusive Birthday Parties at Moonee Valley YMCA Gymnastics CLub with help from a qualified Gymnastics Coach.
- Directing and supporting volunteer coaches
- Keeping accurate records of all classes taught and students in classes
- Complying with procedures for safety, training, purchasing, document control, internal quality audits, corrective and preventative action, customer complaints and control of non-conforming products
The successful candidate will directly take part in our junior programs classes which run afterschool, as well as help deliver birthday parties and school holiday programs.
This is a casual role with an hourly rate up to $30.45 + super.
About You

- Teach and model effective problem solving and conflict negotiation
- Display understanding & respect to those of different talents and abilities
Essential Qualifications
- HLTAID009 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation
- HLTAID011 Provide First Aid
Desirable Qualifications
- Cert 1 in Sports Coaching, Basketball, Soccer, Netball, or badminton
- Gymnastics experience or interest in gaining qualifications preferred but not essential
- Ideally playing or coaching experience in badminton
