About the Centre

The City of Melbourne is redeveloping the Kensington Community Aquatic and Recreation Centre located within JJ Holland Park in Kensington.

The new $68.2 million environmentally sustainable facility is due to open Mid 2025 and will feature: a heated 25 -Metre 8 Lane Pool, 700 m2 Health Club, three multi-purpose courts, three large flexible spaces and a Café.

About the role 

The Aquatics Coordinator will manage and lead teams of employees in Aquatic Programs areas and ensure that the delivery of the programs and services meets agreed standards. They will lead, inspire, and motivate teams through clear and achievable team goals and support high standards of implementation of Policies and Procedures. You will have responsibility for your team and the enjoyment and safety of the visitors to the pool.​ Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following;

  • Coaching/ training and performance all Swim Teacher and Teacher in Charge Staff
  • Working autonomously as well as being an active leader
  • Ensure designated programs and services are delivered in accordance with operating budgets, objectives and Key Performance Indicators, with support as required
  • Involvement in customer experience and retention planning

This is a full-time position with a salary of $66,228 + Super & Y Benefits.

About you 

You will have strong leadership skills to effectively manage a large team of staff in a busy aquatic environment. Aquatic Supervision will be a large focus of the role to ensure high levels of consistent supervision.

You will be available to work available to work Tuesday through to Saturday on a weekly basis.

Essential Qualifications   

  • HLTAID009 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation
  • HLTAID011 Provide First Aid
  • Accredited Teacher of Swimming and Water Safety (AUSTSWIM or equivalent)

Other Desired Qualifications and Experience

  • ​​Aquatic Technical Operator Skill Set Certificate
  • Knowledge of Occupational Health & Safety Legislation is an advantage
  • Previous experience in a similar facility in a supervisory role is desirable
