Lead, inspire, and manage a team of coaches in a growing, community-focused gymnastics centre at Moonee Valley. Part-time, 25 hrs/week, with potential for additional hours.

About the Centre

Moonee Valley YMCA Gymnastics Centre is located in Essendon, we offer a wide range of gymnastics programs for all ages and abilities. Our programs include sessions for preschool children, school-age participants, adults, and inclusive classes designed for individuals with disabilities.

The Centre is equipped with essential apparatus such as beams, vaults, parallel bars, uneven bars, and more, ensuring participants can safely learn and progress. We also offer casual gymnastics sessions, adults classes birthday party hosting, and school holiday programs

About the Role:

Working closely with the Gymnastics Senior Coordinator, the Gymnastics Team Leader will be responsible for managing and motivating a team of gymnastics coaches and staff to deliver high-quality programs. You'll ensure that all services align with our policies and standards while inspiring your team to reach clear, achievable goals.

This integral role will require a balance of coaching, administration, and Teacher-in-Charge duties, offering a hands-on approach to both staff and customer support. As part of the Manager on Duty roster, you may occasionally act as a delegate of the Manager, supporting staff and customers across all facility areas. Key Responsibilities include:

  • Ensure programs meet agreed standards and align with organisational policies and procedures.
  • Actively participate in coaching, administration, and Teacher-in-Charge roles as needed.
  • Develop and grow key business areas:
  • Expand and manage school programs, building partnerships with local schools to increase participation.
  • Coordinate and promote birthday party packages to enhance revenue streams and customer engagement.
  • Assist in implementing new classes and programs to meet community needs and attract new participants.

This is a part-time role with potential for additional hours based on business growth in key areas, including birthday parties, school programs, and new class implementation. Rate $31.24 plus super per hour.

25 hours per week (Part-time); Monday: 3 PM – 8 PM; Tuesday: 3 PM – 8 PM; Wednesday: 3 PM – 8 PM; Thursday: 2 PM – 7 PM; Saturday: 9 AM – 1 PM

Note: Schedule may be adjusted based on business needs and the successful candidate’s availability.

About you 

We are seeking a motivated, organised and pro-active Gymnastics Team Leader to come and join the team. You will have strong interpersonal skills, a positive attitude and a commitment to the safety and wellbeing of children, young people and all facility users. You will be Passionate about recreational gymnastics and fostering a positive, supportive environment for staff and participants. Strong leadership and team management skills are essential. Other requirements include:

  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Experience or interest in business development to help grow school programs and birthday party offerings.
  • Intermediate or advanced gymnastics coach (preferred)

Essential Qualifications   

  • Beginner Coaching Accreditation with Gymnastics Victoria
  • First Aid Certificate
  • CPR Certificate
  • Intermediate Coaching Accreditation * Desirable
