About the Centre 

The Bass Coast Leisure Facilities include the Bass Coast Aquatic & Leisure Centre and Phillip Island Leisure Centre. The centres comprise a mix of health and fitness options including gym and group fitness programs, learn to swim or gymnastics programs and aquatic facilities.

The Y in Bass Coast is a vibrant community focused group, working to improve community health across a range of programs and services offered. The Y also manages the YES Youth Hub in Wonthaggi and delivers Skate Programs across the shire.

About the Role

The Community Activation Coordinator is responsible for the engagement of the Bass Coast community both inside and outside of the four walls of the facility including:

The Community Activation Coordinator is responsible for the engagement of the Bass Coast community both inside and outside of the four walls of the facility including:

  • The development and delivery of year-round programs, services and events designed to activate community spaces such as parks, recreation areas and tracks and trails.
  • Working directly with Council partner to identify areas of need, synergies with a shared vision to improve community health.
  • Networking and partner with community organizations and groups to leverage off existing partnerships and capacity build to improve outcomes and reach more people.
  • Focusing on engaging with under-represented groups, in particular, older adults, socially isolated, first nations people, LGBTQIA+, disadvantage people, and those living with a disability or chronic illness.
  • Introducing new people and groups to Bass Coast Y facilities who would not traditionally attend through the delivery of relevant and impactful programs in partnership with the rec leadership team.

The role requires the successful applicant to be able to research and identify opportunities that meet the above key deliverables. The applicant will need to have excellent communication skills, be able to network effectively and create meaningful opportunities for participation.

The role will require the candidate to have knowledge of the fitness industry, be able to speak of the benefits of movement and exercise in relation to good health. Experience in the fitness industry or community planning would be advantageous.

This is a part-time position with a starting hourly rate of $35.21 + Super.

  • HLTAID009- Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation
  • HLTAID011- Provide First Aid
