About the Centre

The Macleod Recreation Centre is a facility that offers a wide variety of programs for all. The centre comprises of a fully equipped gymnasium (electronic cardio equipment, machine weights and free weights), Group Fitness, fully equipped Gymnastic facility, Dance studio, 2 program rooms (used for a variety of programs and services), basketball court and tennis courts.

About the role

As the teacher in charge, you will be facilitating and supervising the gymnastics program, ensuring all classes run smoothly and safely. Furthermore, you will provide the highest level of customer service, and act as the first point of contact for parents and guardians of children in our programs.

In this role, you will be responsible for instructing and interacting with children and their guardians, providing effective direction, feedback, and support. You will also support the Gymnastics Team Leader in ensuring the smooth operation of our programs, by supporting with administrative tasks.

Handling concerns raised by gymnasts, parents, and staff and coordinating class transitions are also part of your responsibilities. You will feel at ease tending to injuries and incidents as they arise and promptly report to management. Your flexibility and willingness to support fellow coaches when needed will be highly valued.

Macleod YMCA Gymnastics has a diverse program offering and our Gymnastics Coach's deliver to people of all ages and abilities.

About you 

You will have a solid comprehension and understanding of YMCA philosophy as it pertains to gymnastic programs and educational teaching standards and you will demonstrate enthusiasm, patience, respect in all of your interactions.

The ideal candidate will have a positive attitude and a strong commitment to the safety and wellbeing of children, young people and all facility users.

You will also enjoy working in a team-based environment and have a genuine concern and interest in the wellbeing and education of gymnasts.

Essential Qualifications   

  • GYM Intermediate Coach qualification or equivalent
  • Coach registration with Gymnastics Victoria
  • Gymnastics Supervisor Accreditation
  • FA First Aid Level 2 (3yr)
  • CPR Certificate.
