The purpose

The Survey Data Manager oversees all survey data management at Queensland Hydro, ensuring high-quality geospatial data supports projects by establishing standards, maintaining accuracy and accessibility, and guiding teams in effectively leveraging data to optimize workflows, enhance outcomes, and drive innovation.

The role

The Survey Data Manager is responsible for coordinating survey data collection across multiple contractors, ensuring seamless data integration and collaboration among stakeholders. This includes developing and maintaining the Survey Data Management Plan, leading efforts to optimize data sharing and alignment with project objectives and providing technical support and training to enhance team capabilities.

The role also involves implementing quality assurance for survey data deliverables and ensuring the integration of survey data with digital engineering systems like GIS, asset management, and project management tools for comprehensive project oversight.

About you

You hold a bachelor’s degree in surveying, Geomatics, Data Science, or a related field, with at least 10 years of experience in survey data management, particularly on large infrastructure projects. A certification in data management, such as Certified Survey Technician or GIS Professional Certification, is highly desirable.

You possess advanced knowledge of survey data software like AutoCAD Civil 3D, ArcGIS, and Leica Geo Office, alongside expertise in Australian and international survey data standards (e.g., ISO 19115, AS/NZS 5488). Your skills include integrating survey data with other project functions and systems, managing large datasets, and utilizing data validation tools to ensure accuracy.

You are proficient in spatial data analysis, familiar with programming languages like Python and SQL for workflow automation, and have strong IT skills, including cybersecurity. With proven leadership and team management abilities, you excel in building rapport with stakeholders and adapting to evolving project needs while maintaining high standards
