About us

Queensland Hydro is a publicly owned entity established by the Queensland Government to design, deliver, operate, and maintain long duration Pumped Hydro Energy Storage (PHES) assets that will be the cornerstone for the transformation of the state’s energy system.

The organisation will drive delivery of world-class pumped hydro assets to provide the long-term storage and reliability needed to power Queensland’s clean energy future. The organisation will play a critical role in assisting the Queensland Government to meet its renewable energy targets and net zero emissions by 2050, supporting the shift in the Australian economy to a decarbonised energy system.

The role

This role supports procurement services, including planning and sourcing goods and services in support of the delivery of the QLD Hydro strategic priorities. In addition, this role is responsible for procurement initiatives, supporting internal stakeholders, the provision of procurement governance, establishing supplier relationships for either corporate services or project support.

Key Accountabilities

Working and reporting to the Procurement Leads this role will ensure procurement activities that comply with QLD Hydro policies/procedures and meet the obligations under the procurement processes.

Key accountabilities include;

  • Delivery of timely, cost-effective, quality-driven procurement projects, support of lead end-to-end tender and procurement processes for activities allocated by the Procurement Leads including the planning of procurements, compilation of RFx documentation and approval packages, functional management of market exercises in Q-Tenders, management of supplier briefings, evaluation and clarification of offers, the appointment suppliers and sub-contractors, contract execution and the creation of vendor profiles.
  • Establishment and support supplier relationships by ensuring contracts are set up to perform and are consistently handed over to stakeholders so that they are ready to deliver.
  • Provision of policy advice and probity guidance to enable the business to maintain the values of the Queensland Hydro Procurement Policy and Queensland Procurement Policy 2023.
  • Maintain good record keeping and reporting to align with audit requirements.
  • Contribute to and utilise performance management reports and data analytics to support procurement decision making, highlight risks and opportunities linked to supply status & changing demand.
  • Participate in the identification of business needs to contribute to pipeline planning and the Qld Hydro Procurement Plan
  • Process and respond to procurement request and enquiries.
  • Ensure that Health and Safety Principles are part of every aspect of delivery.  

About you

To be successful in this role you will have proven experience from the following attributes,

  • Experience in Government related entities desirable
  • Specific demonstrated experience working within the Queensland Procurement Policy in a corporate/project environment.
  • Effective interpersonal skills with the ability to develop relationships with suppliers, stakeholders, and management.
  • Display a high level of attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Sound understanding of procurement frameworks.
  • Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.
