About us

Queensland Hydro is a publicly owned entity established by the Queensland Government to design, deliver, operate and maintain long duration pumped hydro energy storage assets that will be the cornerstone for the transformation of the state’s energy system.

The organisation will drive delivery of world-class pumped hydro assets to provide the long-term storage and reliability needed to power Queensland’s clean energy future. The organisation will play a critical role in assisting the Queensland Government to meet its renewable energy targets and net zero emissions by 2050, supporting the shift in the Australian economy to a decarbonised energy system.


Purpose

Reporting to the Performance Manager, the Project Planner is responsible for contributing to the package planning processes to ensure a detailed and integrated approach to scheduling and resource allocation. This role is pivotal in the development and maintenance of package schedules and contributing to the Integrated Master Schedule, in addition to monitoring and reporting on key package milestones.

Key Accountabilities 

The key accountabilities include the following:

  • Contribute to the package planning processes, ensuring all activities, key dates, and interfaces are identified, understood, and scheduled.
  • Develop and assist project teams in maintaining schedules for nominated packages.
  • Monitor and report on key package milestones.
  • Prepare detailed functional schedules, bar charts, and resource graphs, as required.
  • Prepare time recovery strategy options where delay or potential delay will affect a critical date of a package.
  • Monitor key interface milestones and pro-actively work with the relevant lead to mitigate any slippages.
  • Interface with Contractor’s planning team on day-to-day schedule management.
  • Drive and support Contractors to achieve common project goals
  • Review proposed change management time implications and document the results.
  • Coordinate the modification of package schedules for approved changes.
  • Assist team members in resolving scheduling issues related to their responsibilities.
  • Review detailed schedules and reports prepared by contractors according to package requirements and highlight any concerns that may lead to schedule non-compliance.
  • Produce management reports on package time status and resources for monthly status reports.
  • Assist the Cost Management Team with time-based information for cost forecasting and procurement requirements.


About you

To be successful in this position, you will ideally possess:

  • Educational Requirements: Degree in Business, Engineering, Project Management, or related field.
  • Minimum of 5-8 years of experience in project planning and scheduling, preferably in infrastructure or energy sectors.
  • Experience in significant infrastructure projects preferred, including specific experience in roads and bridge works, dam construction, underground mining, large scale M&E installation
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in project management software for scheduling. Preferably Primavera P6 
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proficient in MS Office 365.
