About us

Queensland Hydro is a publicly owned entity established by the Queensland Government to design, deliver, operate and maintain long duration pumped hydro energy storage assets that will be the cornerstone for the transformation of the state’s energy system.

The organisation will drive delivery of world-class pumped hydro assets to provide the long-term storage and reliability needed to power Queensland’s clean energy future. The organisation will play a critical role in assisting the Queensland Government to meet its renewable energy targets of 70% renewables by 2032, 80% by 2035 and net zero emissions by 2050, supporting the shift in the Australian economy to a decarbonised energy system.

The role

The Contracts Administrator works autonomously and forms a key commercial support role within Queensland Hydro’s individual project teams. The role is responsible for providing contract management and administration, commercial advice, and counsel, in relation to the management, interpretation and application of the contract for projects.

The role provides commercial administration as part of an integrated project team by applying commercial rigour in the application of contractual rights and obligations while mitigating project risk and maximising overall value to Queensland Hydro. Success in this role is characterised by accurate and timely administration, strategic and logical thinking, and an ability to build relationships across broad stakeholder groups internally and externally.

 

Key Accountabilities

The key accountabilities of the Contracts Administrator include the following:

  • Provide contract management and administration duties in relation to the day-to-day requirements for the delivery of major projects, including liaising with Clients, Contractors and Project Team members.
  • Manage the contractual correspondence, notices, claims etc, for major contract arrangements.
  • Formulate contracts based on estimates, budgets and timeframes.
  • Ensure contractors are compliant with their tender and contractual requirements and provide advice to contractors where required.
  • Provide strong commercial counsel and leadership within the project team and its integrated team members.
  • Administering the contractual aspects of projects to support project delivery on time and within budget.
  • Assist internal legal teams to provide contract- related issue resolution, both internally and externally.
  • Ensure Queensland Hydro’s internal contract documents are accurate, maintained and up to date.
  • Ensure that the Queensland Hydro’s internal and external stakeholders are up to date with the status of contracts.
  • Ensure contractual risk is managed and mitigated including management of all variations, extension of time, delay and disruption claims, liquidated damages, provisional sums in order to protect and maximise value to Queensland Hydro.
  • Implement and manage contract administration plans, systems and procedures, including contract start up and close out activities.
  • Maintain collaborative relationships both internally and externally.


About you

To be successful in this position, you will ideally possess:

  • Appropriate tertiary qualifications or experience in a relevant discipline Finance, Business Management, or related field
  • Post-Graduate level qualifications in a relevant area or a lesser qualification coupled with significant applied experience

 

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Minimum of five years of experience in a similar role.
  • Sound knowledge of contract principles.
  • Exemplify a strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects with shifting deadlines.
  • Strong stakeholder relationship building and management skills, with a mindset of achieving win-win outcomes.
  • A sound understanding of infrastructure project delivery workforce requirements.
  • Strong numeracy and financial skills.
  • Sound financial and commercial knowledge and experience

 

Special Requirements and Working Conditions

  • Travel to and attendance at site on regular basis.
  • Ability to respond to and deal with requests from key stakeholders at short notice, including outside of traditional working hours
