About us

Queensland Hydro is a publicly owned entity established by the Queensland Government to design, deliver, operate and maintain long duration pumped hydro energy storage assets that will be the cornerstone for the transformation of the state’s energy system.

The organisation will drive delivery of world-class pumped hydro assets to provide the long-term storage and reliability needed to power Queensland’s clean energy future. The organisation will play a critical role in assisting the Queensland Government to meet its renewable energy targets and net zero emissions by 2050, supporting the shift in the Australian economy to a decarbonised energy system. 

Purpose

This is to lead and direct a functional procurement team (corporate or project support) the provision of procurement and contract management services, including planning and sourcing goods and services in support of the delivery of the QLD Hydro strategic priorities. 

The Role

This role will work with directly with Queensland Hydro’s various business units to ensure procurement and contract management activities are compliant with QLD Hydro policies/procedures and meet the obligations under procurement processes.

Key Accountabilities.

  • Manage and administer the QLD Hydro Initiative, ensuring appropriate, fit for purpose administration and contract management approaches.
  • Lead, manage and coach individual and team performance and behaviours and implement supporting metrics and targets to drive transformation, achievement, and continuous improvement strategies
  • Positively promote and actively role model QLD Hydro values and behaviours to support the delivery of our service.
  • Establish and maintain a supplier relationship management framework with a continuing focus on value for money fit for purpose outcomes.
  • Provide expert leadership and advice on end-to-end procurement and contract management processes and practices to ensure fit for purpose goods and services are sourced and delivered efficiently on time and in accordance with sound governance practices.
  • Support Queensland Hydro stakeholders with quality procurement and contracts advise and timely support of procurement activities. 
  • Promote awareness and deliver training of best practice procurement and contract management policies and procedures across the organisation.
  • Ensure stakeholders are fully supported to jointly delver contract and supplier strategies, sourcing initiatives, benefit identification and realisation to deliver optimum, fit for purpose goods and services in accordance with Queensland Hydro’s organisational commitments.

About you

  • Formal procurement/business management qualification
  • Experience in Government related entities
  • Minimum 5 years as a procurement lead
  • Demonstrated experience in contract management
  • Highly developed negotiation skills
  • Specific demonstrated experience working within the Queensland Procurement Policy in corporate / project environments (highly desirable)
  • Proven and effective interpersonal skills with the ability to develop relationships with suppliers, stakeholders, and management.
  • Extensive management skills with the ability execute deliverables in the operational plan.
  • Demonstrated strong written communication skills including the ability to clearly and concisely articulate complex issues and risks in high level documentation including reports, briefings, business cases and service level agreements.
