Queensland Hydro is a publicly owned entity established by the Queensland Government to design, deliver, operate and maintain long duration pumped hydro energy storage assets that will be the cornerstone for the transformation of the state’s energy system.

The organisation will drive delivery of world-class pumped hydro assets to provide the long-term storage and reliability needed to power Queensland’s clean energy future. The organisation will play a critical role in assisting the Queensland Government to meet its renewable energy targets and net zero emissions by 2050, supporting the shift in the Australian economy to a decarbonised energy system.

Purpose

As the Risk Analyst at Queensland Hydro, you will play a crucial role in supporting the Project teams in managing project risks. You will be responsible for collecting, processing, and maintaining risk information, facilitating risk workshops, and providing comprehensive risk analysis and reporting. This role is vital in ensuring that project risks are identified, assessed, and managed effectively to support the successful delivery of Queensland Hydro’s projects. 


Key Accountabilities

  • Assist project teams in identifying, assessing, and evaluating risks, and in identifying existing controls and potential treatment strategies.
  • Maintain and manage project risk registers, conducting monthly assessments and reviews in consultation with Risk Owners.
  • Facilitate the risk escalation process, ensuring that significant risks are communicated to appropriate stakeholders in a timely manner.
  • Facilitate periodic risk management workshops with Risk Owners to perform major reviews of project Risk Registers and related documents.
  • Develop and maintain suitable Project Risk Management Plans and associated documents.
  • Participate in collaborative risk workshops with Contractors to identify and assess potential project risks.
  • Monitor and report project and/or work package level risks, ensuring that all relevant risks are documented and updated in the Project Risk Registers.
  • Report and gather feedback on the risk management process to ensure continuous improvement and adherence to best practices.
  • Assist in the identification and classification of critical risk controls.
  • Coordinate Quantitative Risk Assessment activities, ensuring that comprehensive risk analyses are conducted and documented.
  • Inform Project Directors regarding progress and changes to project risk ratings and treatment plans.
  • Liaise with the PMO Risk Manager to ensure alignment of project risk management activities with overall program and strategic risk management objectives.


About you

To be successful in this role, you will ideally possess;

  • Formal qualifications in Risk Management, Project Management, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Relevant professional certifications (e.g., PMI-RMP, ISO 31000) are highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated experience in risk management within a PMO or major project environment.
  • Expertise in collecting, processing, and analysing risk information, with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to facilitate risk workshops and coordinate risk assessment activities effectively.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage and collaborate with internal and external parties.
  • High-level proficiency in risk management software and tools, alongside strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
