Queensland Hydro is a publicly owned entity established by the Queensland Government to design, deliver operate and maintain long duration pumped hydro energy storage assets that will be the cornerstone for the transformation of the state’s energy system.

The purpose
The Senior Advisor, Stakeholder Engagement plays a vital role in shaping the leadership and strategic direction of stakeholder engagement activities for Queensland Hydro and its projects. This position is essential to ensuring that effective stakeholder engagement is achieved, which is critical to the success of both the organization and its projects.
The role
In this role, you will be responsible for developing and executing comprehensive stakeholder engagement strategies and plans, working closely with both internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure a collaborative and integrated approach that aligns with project objectives and strategic priorities.
Key responsibilities include implementing engagement strategies that are timely, inclusive, fit-for-purpose, and technically sound, all of which support the overall goals of the project and organization. As the primary contact for stakeholders, you will ensure transparent and responsive communication, while also collaborating with internal teams to secure social license and integrate stakeholder perspectives.
Additionally, you will track and analyze engagement activities, providing regular reports and making proactive adjustments to strategies as needed, and overseeing the work of contracting partners to ensure alignment with project requirements and timelines.
About you
To be successful in this role, you will need a degree-level qualification in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience in communications and stakeholder management.
An open driver’s license and IAP2 engagement certification are also required. You should have over seven years of experience in a senior stakeholder engagement role, ideally within infrastructure or construction projects, with a strong understanding of approvals processes, construction workflows, and project management.
The role demands extensive experience working with a diverse range of stakeholders on large, multi-disciplinary infrastructure projects, and a proven ability to develop and implement stakeholder engagement strategies in complex environments.
Additionally, experience in managing teams, contractors, or consultancies is essential. Familiarity with Hydro projects, the energy sector, or projects in the development phase is an advantage. Flexibility to attend engagement events and meetings outside of regular work hours is also expected.
