We’re looking for an experienced and driven Strategic Communications Lead to join our team in Invercargill for a two-year fixed-term role. In this pivotal role reporting to the Communications Manager, you will lead the development and delivery of strategic communications and engagement plans for major projects at PowerNet. About You
Ideally you will have a Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, Public Relations, or a related field, or possess equivalent practical experience. You have at least two years of experience in a communications and engagement role. Your strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills enable you to translate complex technical information into clear, accessible concepts. You will also have experience in communications strategy and plan development, with a proven track record of leading and delivering communications and engagement plans, as well as executing end-to-end campaigns. A solid understanding of communications fundamentals, combined with practical experience, will allow you to confidently engage with senior colleagues and interact across all levels within the organisation. Experience in crisis communications and media relations experience is highly desirable, along with strong proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Familiarity with digital tools and platforms like WordPress and social media is a bonus! A pragmatic, solutions-focused approach to problem-solving, paired with excellent time management skills and the ability to manage competing priorities, will be essential to your success in this role.
