Environmental Planner - Consents
New Plymouth or Tauranga
About the role:
Are you an experienced environmental planner looking for a new challenge? Perhaps thinking about a change from working either in the public sector or consultancy environment? Powerco might just have the job for you!
We’re after an environmental planner, with a relevant degree and at least 5 years’ planning experience behind them, to join us in January 2025. We need someone self-driven, solid in their planning knowledge and expertise, and keen to work on a wide variety of resource consent applications and provide advice on planning matters to the business. If you are also a confident communicator, comfortable in the Tangata whenua and stakeholder engagement space and highly productive, we would love to hear from you. Added bonuses would be that you have some utilities experience, or maybe even have some experience or interest in the property legal space.
Preferably you would be working with us from either our New Plymouth or Tauranga office, but applicants from elsewhere on Powerco’s footprint will be considered.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide advice to the business on RMA consent requirements
- Prepare and lodge resource consent applications, Notices of Requirement and Outline Plans of Work
- Develop and maintain relationships with planning teams at District and Regional Councils
- Conduct stakeholder consultation and assist other team members with project stakeholder and Tangata whenua engagement where required
- Collaboration as required with Powerco’s Environment & Sustainability team
- Contribute to Powerco’s collaborative, safe, and inviting work environment by demonstrating the organisation’s Ngā Tikanga
Ideal experience and skills:
- Relevant qualifications in resource management or environmental planning
- Strong understanding of environmental legislation
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience (Intermediate or Senior Planner)
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Detail-oriented and highly organized
Why Powerco:
You would be joining a hard working but fun-loving and supportive team, who are responsible for advising on and securing Powerco’s property rights and resource consents.
Applications close: Friday 22 November 2024
Our ability to get the best out of people is what sets Powerco apart. We realise that candidates – especially from underrepresented and neurodiverse backgrounds – often won’t apply for roles unless they meet ALL the criteria. We encourage anyone who shares our passion for connecting communities to apply for any role that aligns to your strengths and interests. We will provide a safe space where you can bring your whole self to work and thrive.
If you would benefit from support or adjustments in order to participate equitably in the recruitment process, please phone 0800 769372 or email kiaora@powerco.co.nz
