Our Information Services department works as one team to provide technology-enabled business growth putting our customer’s energy future at the center of everything we do. We are dynamic, skilled and passionate about helping Powerco transform to a digital utility. We are investing across the spectrum of IT services including architecture, data and analytics, cyber-security, networks and Internet of Things, real-time systems, geographic information systems cloud and communications including voice radio across the country and fiber connectivity. 

As a member of the Telecommunications team, the Network Engineer provides technical leadership to develop and support Powerco’s critical systems. In this role you will be responsible for configuring, installing, maintaining, and supporting Powerco’s telecommunications networks along with our strategic partners and service providers. Your contribution directly impacts our system availability KPIs. In addition to BAU responsibilities, you will also work on projects and be able to influence the technical direction. Continuous improvement and automation are essential to free up time for more value add. You will also be able to work directly with our key venders and partners to ensure we deliver and maintain mature solutions that add value to Powerco.

To be successful in this role you will have strong knowledge and experience in Juniper and or Cisco technologies, and highly secure MPLS type networks. You will be a problem solver with a solution focused, can do attitude. You focus on quality, bringing a systematic approach to working through the detail, and be cool under pressure. You also will be passionate about upskilling other teams through documentation, knowledge sharing and mentoring. Your strong customer focus will ensure that users (NOC, field and office) adopt and continue to benefit from fit for purpose telecommunications services. You are able to communicate well at all levels and help hold our suppliers and partners accountable for their performance. Of course, you’ll pass the “on the bus” test and work within Powerco’s Values, Code of Business Conduct, policies and standards – found on our intranet - which collectively define the base-line behaviours required of us all.
