Connection Asset Design Engineer
New Plymouth, Tauranga and Wellington
Join our Business Development team, engaging across all stakeholders in the Powerco business to develop high voltage transmission lines in the renewable energy sector.
This is an exciting new role where you’ll be key in idea generation (or identifying new projects), ensuring project life cycle technical support and overseeing highly effective project delivery.

About the role
As a Connection Asset Design Engineer, you'll develop assets for renewable energy projects. You will be planning, analysing and designing new line route development to support renewable energy connection to the grid.
This is a high impact role where you’ll be communicating with all facets of Powerco’s internal stakeholders and highly influential in ensuring project delivery. This is a varied role that will see you in the office, out on site, and overseeing technical project delivery – from conception, to construction and completion.
To be a success in this role, you will need:
· A strong background in electrical, civil, or mechanical engineering, with at least 10 years of experience in transmission grade design.
· Ability to engage and quickly establish and maintain strong working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders
· Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to develop innovative solutions for renewable energy projects.
· The ability to work comfortably with ambiguity, lead concept development, and adapt to various project requirements.
It would be ideal if you have:
· Strong knowledge of line design principles, structural analysis and industry standards
· Electrical utility or utility consulting experience
· Experience in scoping, cost estimation, and feasibility analysis
