Time for a new challenge? You could be an instrumental part of how an Aotearoa New Zealand industry leader shapes the way it engages with customers and external audiences.
About us
A lot goes into powering Aotearoa New Zealand’s second-largest electricity and gas network. As an essential service provider, we have over 900,000 customers across the North Island relying on us to keep the power on and the gas flowing. Connecting with our customers, stakeholders and industry to build confidence in our energy future is core to the mahi of the Communications and Engagement team.
What we’re looking for
We’re looking for a thoughtful and detail-oriented Communications Advisor to help us connect with customers, stakeholders, and employees through clear, engaging, and effective communications.
This role is perfect for someone who not only thrives in a fast-paced environment but also takes a strategic, analytical approach to communications—evaluating messaging effectiveness, identifying areas for improvement, and ensuring alignment with our broader goals. You’ll enjoy crafting compelling stories, supporting media relations, and assisting with both internal and external communications, but you’ll also be someone who thinks critically about impact and asks the right questions to refine and strengthen our approach.
As part of the Communications and Engagement team, you’ll support our Communications Specialists in ensuring our messaging is consistent, impactful, and strategically aligned. Your ability to step back, assess, and provide objective insights will be key to shaping how we communicate with our audiences.
Of course, our people are important to us too and part of the role extends to telling our story internally and taking our wider team on our journey.
This is a part-time, fixed-term position until the end of 2025.
About you
You’ll bring a mix of creativity, attention to detail, and strong writing skills, with the ability to work across multiple communication channels. You have a strategic and analytical mindset, always considering the bigger picture and assessing the effectiveness of communications. You’re not just focused on delivery—you also evaluate what’s working and what could be improved.
Ideally, you’ll have:
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- A keen eye for detail and the ability to objectively assess messaging and media impact.
- Experience in media relations, internal communications, or stakeholder engagement.
- A logical and measured approach to decision-making, ensuring communications align with broader business goals.
- A proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Familiarity with corporate communications tools and digital media platforms.
- Previous experience in the energy or infrastructure sector (preferred but not essential).
In addition to competitive salary offerings, you’ll get the opportunity to join a company that invests in its people.
If what you’ve read sounds like a challenge you’re up for, we want to hear from you.
