The Opportunity
We’re looking for a highly capable Manager or Senior Manager to lead a dedicated team and manage a high-value portfolio of clients. You’ll bring strong technical knowledge, leadership experience, ability to work in a fast paced and evolving business and a genuine passion for supporting businesses through every stage of their journey.
This is a hands-on leadership role working closely a Partner to deliver exceptional client service, grow the firm, and guide the next generation of accountants.
Key Responsibilities
Compliance & Taxation
· Oversee preparation and review of financial statements and tax returns (individuals, companies, trusts, SMSFs)
· Manage lodgment of BAS, IAS, FBT, and other compliance tasks
· Monitor legislative updates and provide guidance to clients and staff
· Ensure adherence to internal procedures and quality standards
Advisory & Consulting
· Deliver strategic tax planning and business advice
· Identify opportunities for business improvement and restructuring
· Support clients with budgeting, forecasting, KPI analysis, and growth planning
Leadership & Team Development
· Mentor, lead, and review work of junior and intermediate accountants
· Conduct performance reviews and establish development pathways
· Foster a collaborative and high-performing team culture
Client Portfolio Management
· Assist the partner manage a portfolio of $1.7m across various industries
· Serve as the primary client contact to your dedicated client list and 2IC to the partner/other team members.
· Ensure timely, high-quality client deliverables
· Build strong relationships and proactively identify client needs
Partner Support & Firm Development
· Assist with WIP, billing, recovery, and reporting
· Collaborate with partners on client strategies and growth initiatives
· Contribute to business development and firm-wide improvement projects
What You’ll Bring
· CA/CPA qualification with 6+ years’ experience in public practice (ideally in a mid-tier firm)
· Strong technical expertise in Australian taxation and compliance
· Demonstrated experience leading teams and managing large client portfolios
· Excellent communication, client service, and problem-solving skills
· Ambition to grow professionally and contribute to the success of the firm
Competitive salary is on offer, ranging from $150,000 to $180,000 depending upon your skills and experience. Additional bonus structures are in place to recognize your performance, billable targets and contribution to the team.
