In this role you will be responsible for the day to day operations of the security function at The Perth Mint. You will be tasked to work with internal and external stakeholders to manage The Perth Mints physical security risks and associated operations. Here you will lead and develop the security team to ensure a harmonious and cohesive team environment.


Your role as a Manager Security Operations will involve:

  • Assist with the development and implementation of the Perth Mint Security strategic plan
  • Responsible for the Security operations team – including managing health, safety and fatigue, career planning and workforce management
  • Oversee and proactively maintain security management systems, CCTV, access control and intruder detection, including issuing access cards and keys and ensure they are functional and meeting performance standards
  • Provide training and mentoring to the security team
  • Manage the security inspection and audit program with a focus on continuous improvement
  • Manage security for events and functions at The Perth Mint, including planning and risk assessment
  • Assist with the development and implementation of asset management programs for all Security technology and associated infrastructure
  • Assist and support the implementation of security projects
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with key internal and external stakeholders
  • Maintain partnerships with and support Western Australian Police (WAPOL), WA Gold Stealing Detection Unit (GSDU) and Australian Federal Police (AFP) and other agencies in their investigations, through the internally approved sharing of required information
  • Ensure the Mint’s assets, including vaults and its people are protected and secure, supported by adequate policies and procedures
  • Collaborate with Perth Mint logistics to ensure best practice for the safety and secure transportation of precious metals
  • Assist with strategic security reviews, consider intelligence data, analyse strengths and weaknesses of the Mint’s security, and implement action plans to appropriately strengthen the overall security of the Mint’s business across all sites
  • Assist with the development of security awareness training for various staff members on general current security risks and threats
  • Develop and maintain security procedures ensuring compliance with legal obligations and best practice
  • Manage security clearances, which may require liaison with internal departments to ensure National Police clearance guidelines are met
  • Conduct internal and external investigations when necessary

 

Experience:

  • Demonstrated experience in a leadership based security role
  • Demonstrated experience managing and developing teams (including shift workers)
  • Experience managing daily security operations
  • Strong technical security knowledge
  • Experience in security and/or law enforcement
  • Certificate/Diploma in a security related discipline (desirable)
  • Certificate/Diploma in Security and Risk Management and Operations (desirable)
