Your role as a Senior Legal Counsel will involve:

  • Working with stakeholders across the business concerning deal negotiation, business strategy, to accommodate the requirements of the business and to improve overall governance and risk management
  • Instructing and manage external legal advisors in relation to some matters
  • Supervising junior members of the Legal team
  • Reviewing, drafting and negotiating a broad range of legal agreements and documents and reviewing other contracts or documents prepared directly by business units
  • Managing or leading projects or matters delegated to you by Manager Legal Services and General Counsel, including in relation to ongoing advice work, litigation or commercial deals
  • Providing succinct and commercial legal advice to the various areas of the business with respect to legal rights, contractual obligations regulatory matters, and other matters arising day-to-day
  • Reviewing marketing materials and related documents and materials to ensure compliance with contractual, regulatory, and other legal requirements
  • Working with stakeholders across the business to identify, protect and advise on potential areas of risk to the business
  • Contributing to briefings for Gold Corporation’s senior leadership team, executive leadership team and Board of Directors as required on matters of legal significance to the business
  • Following best practices and contributing toward improving deal negotiation, deal memo templates, long form agreements and legal team resources, processes, policies and procedures
  • Providing internal training to the business on legal and governance matters and adding value to the work of the Legal team’s professional services and functions
  • Performing compliance roles as required, including assisting with freedom of information applications
  • Ensuring your own safety and health at work and avoiding adversely affecting the safety or health of any other person through any act or omission at work


Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Law
  • Admitted to practice and hold an unrestricted legal practising certificate from the Legal Practice Board of Western Australian (or equivalent jurisdiction)
  • Demonstrated legal experience, PAE 6+ years
  • Experience in AML/CTF legislation and financial crimes compliance will be well regarded, but is not essential
  • Excellent stakeholder management
