Perth Airport is more than a modern gateway connecting Western Australia to Australia and the world—it is a landscape steeped in history and cultural significance. Operating around the clock on over 2,100 hectares, the airport’s grounds have long held deep meaning.

For centuries, the Whadjuk Noongar people have maintained a profound connection to this land and its waters. The estate is home to many Aboriginal Heritage sites—traditional camping grounds, meeting places, and Lore grounds—that have been in use since the Nyitting (Dreaming) and remain central to the Whadjuk Noongar and wider Noongar communities.

The estate also includes sites of historical significance, many listed on the Aboriginal Heritage Inquiry System. By honouring both its modern role and cultural legacy, Perth Airport continues to reflect the enduring story of the Whadjuk Noongar people.
