About us

Pacific National (PN) is the largest private provider of diversified rail freight services in Australia. We haul a variety of freight including coal, intermodal containers, steel, and a range of bulk commodities and materials that keep the region’s economy, businesses and households running.

About the role

The primary objective of the Training Principal is to oversee and implement learning and development strategies for employees within their designated region. In this role you will focus on delivering training plans, ensuring certificate compliance, and collaborating with teams to upskills employees!

Key responsibilities include but aren’t limited to:

  • Promote training policies and procedures
  • Deliver competency-based training/assessment activities utilising approved competency-based training packages, consistent with the level of qualifications held
  • Conduct training needs analysis and develop training plans to meet operational requirements
  • Maintaining employees records to ensure compliance.
  • Plan, track and improve training and qualification levels within portfolios
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives
  • Review and assess Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)
  • Foster a safe workplace and ensure compliance with OH&S regulations

About you

To thrive in this role, you’ll need strong communication, initiative, and adaptability, along with the ability to work effectively with people, systems, and reporting tools. Key requirements include:

  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (or equivalent)
  • Willingness to obtain Accident Investigation Accreditation if needed
  • Previous experience as a workplace trainer, facilitator, coach, or presenter
  • Ability to embrace change and support continuous improvement
  • Strong stakeholder relationship-building skills
  • Basic knowledge of RTO and AQF regulatory requirements
