About the Role
Reporting to the Head of Operations, the Regional Manager Operations will lead a team to ensure the safe, reliable, and efficient delivery of rail haulage services across regional Northwest NSW portfolio.
Accountable for leading and developing a large operational team focused on operational excellence, safety, that consistently meets and exceeds customer expectations and business objectives.
You will be responsible for:
- Leading and overseeing operational execution in one of Pacific National’s largest and complex regions.
- Designing and implementing regional operational strategies to enhance safety, service performance, and efficiency.
- Building and maintaining operational relationships with customer to support business strategy, growth and operational success.
- Developing leadership capability and fostering a culture of collaboration across the business.
- Driving key initiatives to improve efficiency, resource utilisation, and cost-effectiveness.
- Engaging with regulatory bodies, external partners, and unions to ensure compliance and operational excellence.
- Managing workforce planning to ensure resources are in place to meet customer demand.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have proven leadership experience in a complex operational environment. You will be a strategic thinker with a passion for continuous improvement and operational excellence.
In addition, to be successful in this role you will need:
- Experience in managing complex operations, ideally in freight, or heavy industry.
- The confidence and ability to have challenging conversations.
- Strong understanding of planned operations and service delivery.
- Proven ability to lead teams, drive performance, and foster an engaged workforce.
- Excellent contract management and negotiation skills.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills at all levels.
- Analytical mindset with problem-solving skills and a high degree of initiative.
- Tertiary qualification in Business, Engineering, Logistics, or a related field advantageous
