Pacific National (PN) is the largest provider of diversified rail freight services in Australia. We haul a variety of freight including coal, intermodal containers, steel, and a range of bulk commodities and materials that keep the region’s economy, businesses and households running. We operate nationally with approximately 3,500 staff in over 90+ sites across Australia.

About the role

This job role requires the employee to undertake the correct and safe use of specialised load lifting equipment used to load and unload trains or wagons. The employees may be required to use a range of specific equipment in use at a location.

Loading lifting involves the use of skills and knowledge required to:

  • Operate specialised load shifting equipment in accordance with Pacific National workplace requirements and with relevant regulatory requirements.
  • Planning work to be undertaken within the working environment; correctly using the controls and equipment operating systems to manage the movement of both the equipment and the load.
  • Locate the correct load and, identifying load characteristics in making any movements, move loads; securing equipment after use and completing any required reports and returns, including maintenance reports.

You will be required to work a rotating shift roster.

About you

To be successful in this role, you will be a team player who thinks ahead and enjoys a challenge. This is a role that requires a responsible and accountable individual who will efficiently and safely undertake all forklift and potentially take up shunting activities.

In addition, you will ideally have:

  • Heavy forklift licence
  • CV High Risk Licence
  • Full Driver's licence
  • General computer proficiency is required
  • Previous experience in logistics, transport or the rail industry is preferred
  • Note that training is available for the right candidate.
