About the role
Reporting to the Superintendent in Sydney, the Linehaul Supervisor plays a key role in providing leadership and guidance to train crew, as well as leading and coordinating the day to day operations.
This role will have a strong emphasis on safety leadership, implementing business improvements, driving cultural change and ensuring productive workplace practices. In addition, the Linehaul Supervisor is responsible for ensuring Pacific National trains run on time, safely and efficiently through consultation with stakeholders.
The Linehaul Supervisor will also ensure and organise training for incoming employees whilst also ensuring the current train crew are competent and up to date with training material.
The roster will be Monday to Friday with the requirement to be on call.
Key responsibilities include:
- Inspiring and leading a safety-focused team by supervising, coordinating and managing operational resources
- Maintaining operational oversight and effective communication with traincrew to ensure they operate safely and efficiently within a shift-work environment.
- Ensuring compliance with the relevant network access regulations and policy standards
- Developing organisational capability by building and maintaining the knowledge, skills and attributes required of the team with a focus on coaching, mentoring, and safety leadership
- Coordinating the implementation and communication of organisational, divisional and local safety instructions, as well as assessing team members via driver performance and safety observations
- Commitment to providing optimal customer service; building excellent relationships with all stakeholders and identifying and developing improved business solutions for our customers.
About you
To be successful in this role, you will have a proven track record in leading operational teams driving a safe and reliable operation. You are an experienced frontline operational leader who is passionate about driving positive change and not afraid to challenge the status quo.
In addition, the ideal candidate will possess the following skills, attributes and experience:
- Demonstrated safety leadership across an operational workforce
- Experience in leading, coaching, and motivating a team in a busy environment
- Set and monitor team performance expectation and build a culture of accountability, teamwork and respect aligned to PN’s values.
- Proven strengths in problem solving and analytical ability.
- The ability to work well under pressure and facilitate changes effectively to manage operational risks and challenges.
- Ability to build strong collaborative relationships to ensure day to day operational requirements are met.
- Excellent communication and influencing skills with the ability to communicate at all levels
- Previous experience working in a large transport, logistics or heavy industrial environments ideally in the rail/transport sector will be highly regarded
