About the role: 

You will directly influence the next generation of Health Care Assistants as you share your experience, skills and training with students from many backgrounds. You will be teaching a health and wellness programme and assessing students to help them achieve their goals of pursuing a career in the health care industry – specifically those in the aged care sector.

You will collaborate and work with industry partners and providers to organise work placement in relevant aged care facilities for your students to apply their theory leaning in a practical setting.

You will also help students grow their knowledge of the health care industry, learn about the technical skills needed to succeed, and support them in developing important soft skills.

About you:  

You must be an experienced health care professional with a passion for aged care and educating future leaders in this industry. You will need to be a strong communicator, and maintain a positive, enthusiastic attitude. You need to be able to connect and build relationships with your students and stakeholders so the ability to respect and appreciate differences is certainly a must.

  • A relevant tertiary qualification in healthcare/health – at a minimum of level 5 or above
  • Extensive recent experience within a role related to aged care, including a supervisory or managerial role for at least 12 months during this time
  • Adult teaching experience advantageous but not essential
  • Group training or teaching experience in a multi-cultural environment, and the ability to work with others who do not have English as a first language - highly beneficial but not essential
  • A strong drive to develop others and prepare them to achieve and be successful
  • High level of interpersonal, communication and presentation skills
  • A genuine interest in and passion for cultural diversity and developing relationships within the aged care community.
