About the role:  

The Culinary Arts Tutor role will deliver a Level 4 Cookery course which involves developing and delivering cooking lessons, demonstrating culinary techniques, and imparting knowledge on food safety and nutrition. You will play a crucial role in enhancing culinary skills, fostering a passion for cooking, and preparing students for careers in the culinary industry.

In this rewarding position, you will directly influence the next generation of cookery professionals as you share your experience, skills, and training with students from many backgrounds. You will collaborate and work with industry partners to offer your students external opportunities to experience the vast landscape of the culinary industry.

You will have the opportunity to grow students’ knowledge of industry trends, master technical skills and develop important soft skills by combining the provision of quality tutoring and being an inspiring mentor all to build student capability, and support students in achieving both their study and career goals. 

 

About you: 

At NZMA we are all about taking our students on a journey to learn about the current industry challenges, innovations, and techniques. Therefore, recent experience of at least 5 years in the Cookery industry is required, and you should hold a relevant qualification at level 5 or above. 

You will have a passion for the industry and educating future leaders. You will need to be a strong communicator, able to motivate and inspire young adults, try out new things, and most importantly maintain a positive, enthusiastic attitude. You need to be able to connect and build relationships with all your students so the ability to respect and appreciate differences is certainly a must.  

 

Required Skills & Experience: 

  • Proven background of at least 5 years’ experience in cookery industry
  • Hold a relevant tertiary qualification at level 5 or above 
  • Excellent cooking abilities with extensive experience in food and beverage management 
  • Strong working knowledge across the culinary and hospitality industry 
  • Able to motivate and inspire the next generation of chefs 
  • Formal teaching experience not essential, but must have a love of teaching and motivating people in a multicultural environment
  • Be innovative, inspiring and committed to supporting your learners to achieve exceptional results and realize their goals and dreams
