About the role
As a Food & Beverage/Hospitality Tutor at NZMA Hamilton campus, you will be responsible for delivering the NZ Certificate in Food & Beverage Level 3 course.
In this rewarding position, you will become a coach and mentor for students who want to become skilled Front of House food & beverage professionals. You will work with industry partners and suppliers to offer your students external opportunities to experience the hospitality industry.
Teach the art of barista coffee, event planning and collaborate with our Hospitality Operations Coordinator to operate our onsite Café. Take this opportunity to pass on your knowledge and experience to help the next generation succeed. Plan and execute visits to local venues such as tourism locations and local cafes to observe and discuss learnings.
You will have the opportunity to grow students’ knowledge of industry trends, technical skills and develop important soft skills by combining quality tutoring and being an inspiring mentor.
About You
At NZMA we are all about taking our students on a journey to learn about the current industry challenges, innovations, and techniques. For this role we are looking for a skilled and experienced Hospitality professional with a passion for the industry and educating future leaders.
You will have the following:
- Recent experience in the hospitality industry.
- Relevant qualification at level 4 or above is essential
- Strong barista skills
- Proven background in a range of FOH roles within the sector
- Supervisory/management position experience would be preferable
- Strong communicator, able to motivate and inspire young adults
- Formal teaching experience is not essential but advantageous.
You will need to be highly organised, a collaborator and open to new experiences. Most importantly you need to bring a positive, enthusiastic attitude, so you can connect and build relationships with all your students.
