As a skilled and experienced Lead Mainframe System Administrator you will have a strong background in mainframe systems, with a focus on system automation, performance tuning, and security management.

This role requires a blend of technical expertise and leadership capabilities to manage and guide a team of system administrators.

Key Responsibilities:

  • System Configuration and Maintenance: Oversee the installation, configuration, and maintenance of mainframe systems to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
  • Performance Tuning: Diagnose and troubleshoot system issues, optimizing mainframe performance through tuning and adjustments.
  • Security Management: Implement and manage security measures to protect the mainframe environment from unauthorized access and vulnerabilities.
  • Backup and Recovery: Ensure regular backups are performed and manage disaster recovery plans to safeguard data integrity.
  • Team Leadership: Lead a team of system administrators and technical staff, providing guidance, training, and support.
  • Project Management: Coordinate and manage projects related to mainframe systems, including upgrades, migrations, and new implementations.
  • Vendor Management: Manage relationships with vendors and support contracts to ensure timely and effective support and services.
  • Escalation Handling: Act as the primary point of contact for escalated support issues, ensuring they are resolved efficiently and effectively.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise:

  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in mainframe systems administration.
  • Mainframe System Automation: At least 2 years of relevant experience in one or more of the following: IBM Z System Automation, IBM Z Netview, Solve, GDPS, Ops/MVS, and REXX Coding.
  • Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in any IT-related courses.

  • Technical Expertise: Deep understanding of mainframe systems, including hardware, software, and networking components.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to diagnose and resolve complex system issues.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication and leadership skills to effectively manage teams and projects.
