Title: Lead, Corporate Accounting

Location: Beaverton, OR

Duration: 5 months contract

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR 

We are looking for a Lead to join our WHQ Corporate Accounting team! This person will be responsible for the end-to-end accounting of significant wage and benefits focused on a wide variety of programs that Nike offers with a strong emphasis on payroll, benefit plans, 401-k, and pensions. You’ll actively collaborate with cross-functional business partners to drive process excellence and financial statement accuracy. You will drive strong and dynamic partnerships with HR to ensure accounting and internal controls interests are represented.

You will complete SOX key controls and financial statement reporting requirements associated with benefits and equity. You will support key Controlling initiatives, including new system implementations, operational improvements, and standardization.

WHAT YOU WILL WORK ON

  • Manage accounting and reporting for Nike's multi-billion-dollar wage, incentives, and benefit-related expenses
  • Drive continuous improvement in the efficiency and effectiveness of accounting processes, including the development and implementation of accounting policies, standard operating procedures, and internal control documentation.
  • Build and maintain functional, operational, and organizational knowledge of payroll, benefits, and other compensation-related areas
  • Handle day-to-day accounting operations and proactively provide technical and operational expertise.
  • Build and maintain positive relationship with HR to ensure an understanding of strategic priorities and impacts on the new or existing transaction streams.
  • Play a key role in preparing certain H2R external financial reporting and disclosures in NIKE’s SEC filings, such as, but not limited to, the benefit plans footnote disclosure and the 11-K filing
  • Deliver results through cross-functional teamwork and be a catalyst for change for pivotal initiatives.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with HR and Finance to ensure an understanding of strategic priorities and impacts on the new and existing transaction streams
  • Actively engage with key business partners to evaluate Nike's newest benefit model proposals, provide accounting requirements in accordance with US GAAP and Nike Accounting Policies and inputs to the design, test prior to launch, and operationalize upon debut
  • Strategize, forecast, audit, analyze, budget, research, and lead important decisions

WHO YOU WILL WORK WITH

You will be part of the Controlling organization reporting to the Sr. Manager, of Corporate Accounting. In this role, you will be working cross-functionally with collaborators from Controlling, Global Finance, Payroll Operations, Benefits, and our Geography partners!

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 5+ years of professional experience is required
  • Experience with Big 4 Public Accounting firm, or another large regional firm, is preferred
  • Fortune 500/multinational Consumer Products company preferred
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) is preferred Strong technical foundation of accounting and US GAAP, with proven experience in employee-related compensation and benefits accounting
  • Experience with SAP is strongly preferred
  • Experience with Workday preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills • Entrepreneurial, process-oriented and strategic-thinking mindset
  • Ability to build and maintain strong cross-functional relationships
  • Ability to share ideas, develop effective responses and influence management decisions
  • Proven track record of working independently, leading and prioritizing against multiple priorities, while delivering results with high quality
  • Able to exercise a high degree of integrity and confidentiality
