Northeast Health Wangaratta (NHW) is the major health provider in the Central Hume region with an extensive range of acute, sub-acute, aged care and community services.
NHW has recently reviewed the structure and deliverables of the Aboriginal Health service in line with funding guidelines and national standards for providing culturally safe health care for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
The Aboriginal Health Coordinator will lead initiatives that enhance the NHW’s cultural safety as a health service and employer of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
This will be achieved by:
- Leading NHW’s planning for cultural safety
- Providing education and guidance to NHW staff on matters relating to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture and health
- Ensure NHW has effective structure for cultural safety
