Northeast Health Wangaratta (NHW) is the major health provider in the Central Hume region with an extensive range of acute, sub-acute, aged care and community services.

The Medical Imaging Department provides a wide range of diagnostic ultrasound services. This is a part-time, permanent position, with 25 hours per fortnight.

The primary role of the Sonographer is to provide professional and efficient imaging services to patients and clients of NHW. The classification is commensurate with the level of experience under the Allied Health Professionals Enterprise Agreement and requires an ability to perform various imaging examinations in accordance with the medical imaging department protocols.

It is essential in this role to establish collaborative working relationships with radiologists and other multidisciplinary team members.

The Sonographer is required to:

  • make accurate diagnostic decisions
  • participate in open and informed discussions with radiologists and other staff
  • ensure an efficient workflow
  • optimise patient care

The Sonographer - Grade 3 position is an important role within the medical imaging group. The Grade 3 Sonographer must meet the classification criteria of a Grade 3 AHP1 under the Allied Health Professionals Enterprise Agreement.

This position may also be suitable for a dual qualified radiographer and sonographer, for those that hold Medical Radiation Practitioner registration with AHPRA, and a Victorian Radiation Use Licence. Staff that hold these registrations will also participate in the MIT rotating roster.
