NHW is seeking an energetic and visionary leader to become our next Deputy Director of Pharmacy.
This key position supports the Director of Pharmacy in overseeing all aspects of our pharmacy service, including operations, logistics, informatics, compliance, quality, workforce development and the provision of pharmacy services to other organisations via inter-health service agreements.

As the newly appointed Deputy Director of Pharmacy, you will coordinate and lead efforts in optimising our team's use of current & future digital applications, extend our established successes in pharmacy intern training to implement training pathways for our pharmacy technicians and pharmacists, and act as a key decision maker within your agreed areas of responsibility.
Our Health Service:
Northeast Health Wangaratta (NHW) is the major public hospital & health provider in the Central Hume region in northeast Victoria, providing an extensive range of acute, sub-acute, aged care and community services. NHW is the major referral centre for patients with complex health needs from Benalla, Yarrawonga, Beechworth, Bright, Myrtleford, Mansfield and surrounds, as well as visitors who require emergency healthcare during their stay in northeast Victoria, including the Victorian Alpine resorts and High Country.
Our Pharmacy Team:
Northeast Health Wangaratta’s Pharmacy Department is a team comprising 20 Pharmacists, 3 Interns, 9 Pharmacy Technicians & an Administrative staff member. We routinely host Pharmacy Students on placement from all 3 Victorian Pharmacy education programs and from interstate, and enjoy national recognition as a centre of excellence in developing skilled early-career rural hospital pharmacists.
Our pharmacy services are currently provided internally to departments & wards including Emergency, Intensive Care, Day Oncology, General Medicine, Subacute/Rehabilitation, General Surgical/Orthopaedics, Paediatrics, Operating Theatres, Dispensary & Hospital in the Home, Maternity & Special Care Nursery, Day Stay Unit & Haemodialysis Units. We provide Antimicrobial Stewardship & Medication Safety governance, and we also provide pharmacy services to on-site Mental Health inpatients (Kerferd Unit), and Community Mental Health clients via an inter-service agreement with Albury Wodonga Health / NorthEast & Border Mental Health Service.
At NHW our pharmacy team routinely uses Dedalus' i.Pharmacy, Omnicell's Automated Medication Cabinets & Controlled Substance Managers, Orion Health's Soprano Clinical Information System, Alcidion's Miya Precision platform, SafeScript (Vic and NSW), and MyHealthRecord plus others. We also determine & manage the medication infusion dataset for our fleet of wifi-enabled BD Medication Infusion Pumps, and during 2025 will be implementing Magentus' CHARM application. We are looking forward with optimism towards implementation of a Hume-wide Digital Patient Record, following the implementation of a Hume-wide Patient Administration System (Dedalus' i.PM) & Hume-wide Access & Flow application (Miya Precision) late last year.
