Apprentice Boilermaker

Capcoal is a combined open cut and underground operation that will produce 11 million tonnes per annum of hard coaking and pulverized coal injection coal from 2014. Located in the center of the Bowen Basin, in Central Queensland, 24kms south west of Middlemount. We have opportunities available across Lake Lindsay (open cut) and German Creek (CHPP) for eager individuals who are excited and keen to learn the trade of their dreams alongside tradesmen with years of experience.

Opportunity:

We are now recruiting for a full time Boilermaking Apprentice to work on site at Capcoal Open Cut Operations. Successful candidates will follow a structured and industry-specific training plan, learning on the job from experts in their field whilst completing a Certificate III in Engineering – Fabrication Trade (Boilermaking/ Welding).

Roster - Commencing on a Monday - Friday roster, applicants must be living locally (within 3.5 hours to Middlemount) - Camp facilities will be available for DIDO (Drive-in-Drive-out) candidates.

General Duties:

The successful apprentice will be assigned to German Creek (CHPP) where you will gain a range of fabrication skills to become highly successful in your chosen trade, alongside dedicated highly skilled tradesmen. You will have the opportunity to weld brackets for infrastructure, assist in breakdown work where brackets/welds, etc are required within the maintenance of Pipe welding, structural steel repairs, handrails, working on a range of hydraulic work, gaining a broad skillset upon successful completion of their trade.

Requirements:

  • You will need to have your current Drivers licence.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment medical and drug/alcohol screen
  • Work experience is highly regarded
  • Certificate II in Engineering – Highly desirable
  • Year 12 completion

Why be an MRAEL apprentice?

As an MRAEL apprentice you will be appointed a Field Officer who will guide you through your trade, making sure every aspect of your training experience is rewarding and professional. The Field Officer provides you with consistent mentoring, support and performance management throughout your apprenticeship while ensuring you progress through your training and will coordinate block bookings when necessary. The Field Officer will have regular meetings to discuss your progression and any challenges you may have.

  • Ensure you provide a Cover Letter – outlining your reasons for applying and outlining knowledge of the position you are applying for.
  • Copy of Year 11 or 12 Final Report (if currently at school / or completed within the last 2 years)
  • Ensure you include any work experience placements, you may also including copies of your feedback from work experience placements

The recruitment process will include basic aptitude testing, you may be requested to complete this once your application has been fully completed.
