MRAEL in partnership with Woodman's Glass & Aluminium are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated candidate to join the team.

Woodman's is a solution focused business servicing the Mackay region, manufacturing Glass & Aluminium locally with Australian made products. Woodman's supply and install the full range of Vantage window and door systems as well as shower screens, wardrobes, mirrors, security screens, fly screens, glass cut to size, window reglaze, repairs and commercial glazing.

About the position:

As a Glazier Apprentice, you will work under the guidance of experienced glaziers to complete a Certificate III in Glass and Glazing. This hands-on position offers an opportunity to gain valuable skills in measuring, cutting and installation of glass in various settings, including residential and commercial projects.

This role is a full-time 4-year Apprenticeship and will typically see you carry out the following duties:

  • Support experienced glaziers in installation and repair tasks to learn techniques and best practices.
  • Learn to accurately measure and cut glass and aluminium using appropriate tools and equipment, ensuring precise dimensions for installations
  • Safely transport and handle glass and framing materials, adhering to safety protocols to prevent accidents
  • Organise and prepare job sites by setting up tools, clearing debris, and ensuring a clean and safe working environment
  • Assist in the installation of windows, mirrors, storefronts, shower screens and other glass structures, including applying caulking and adhesives as directed
  • Participate in the maintenance and repair of existing glass installations, including the replacement of broken or cracked glass
  • Follow safety regulations and guidelines to ensure personal safety and the safety of team members, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Assist in tracking materials used on job sites and help maintain inventory levels

About you:

To suit this role, you will be an eager and motivated individual with a passion for Glass and craftsmanship. You will have good communication skills, seek out opportunities to learn and show initiative in your everyday duties.

  • Manual Drivers licence
  • Year 12 High School Completion (strongly desired).
  • This is a physically demanding role - ability to lift heavy objects (work may be performed indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions)
  • Ability to pass a Pre-Employment Medical, including Drug & Alcohol screening.

The recruitment process will include basic Literacy & Numeracy Aptitude Testing.
