MRAEL in partnership with BHP have an exciting opportunity for students based in Years 11 or 12, currently enrolled at Moranbah State High School.
Successful candidates will follow a structured and industry-specific training plan, learning on the job from experts in their field, whilst completing a Certificate III in Telecommunications (ICT30519).
What’s on Offer?
We have 2 x School-Based opportunities available (1 position will be located at Peak Downs Mine, 1 position will be based at Caval Ridge Mine.
As a School-Based Telecommunications Trainee you will work alongside dedicated and supportive Tradesman in an exciting field-based environment at either Peak Downs Mine or Caval Ridge Mine.
What’s Involved:
- Workshop Inspections
- Machine Inspections
- Assisting with preventative and corrective maintenance of equipment
- Equipment cleaning
- Workshop cleaning and small repairs
- Component removal and replacement
- Low voltage electrical work
- Removal of small components
- Assisting tradesman with manual handling of parts/equipment
- Clean and inspect tooling
- Cleaning toolboxes and maintaining order
- Stock consumables in workshop and containers when required
Who are we seeking?
In the fixed-term position, the successful candidate will show an ability to work safely in a mining environment, demonstrate good written and verbal communication skills, be motivated to learn and develop new skills, and have the ability to work constructively within a team.
To be successful, ideally you will have:
- Previous work experience in Information Technology (I.T)
- A keen interest in telecommunications and technology
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- A strong focus on working safely
- Ability to work in a team environment
