Electrical Apprentice (4 year Apprenticeship)
In Weipa, Rio Tinto operates under three Aboriginal agreements: the Western Cape Communities Co-existence Agreement (WCCCA), the Ely Bauxite Mining Project Agreement (EBMPA) and the Weipa Township Agreement. These Agreements capture the aspirations of the business and Traditional Owners to work together to create long term mutual value and outline formal consultation processes between the company and the Traditional Owners of the land on which we operate. They lay the foundation for intergenerational benefits and sustainable economic, cultural, social and environmental outcomes for the signatory Traditional Owner Groups and communities - including education, employment, training, and cultural heritage management.
The Weipa operations in Far North Queensland include three bauxite mines, at East Weipa, Andoom and Amrun. Processing facilities, two shiploaders, an export wharf, two ports, two Power stations that supply the mines, Weipa township and neighbouring community of Napranum, ferry terminals and 19 kilometres of railway to transport mined bauxite to the port area. Amrun the newest mine will extend the Weipa bauxite operations by decades, providing jobs and supporting business growth in the region. The operations’ main administration, warehouse, laboratory and ship loading and port facilities are located at Lorim Point on the Embley River.
If you embrace change, safety, strong leadership and sustainable performance and want to do things that matter, Rio Tinto is the place to be. Take control of your life, shape your future, starting today!
