About The Opportunity

Our Precision Consulting Team leverage their deep industry experience to enable clients to optimise their operations and reduce costs. As the company continues to thrive, an opening has become available for a Principal Mining Consultant at our Fortitude Valley office in Brisbane.

Reporting to the Head of Business Unit (Precision Consulting), you will help establish our new underground consulting team, and providing engineering and technical consulting services for clients. Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Building client relationships and identifying opportunities for consulting work.
  • Reviewing project and services proposals and overseeing the delivery of consulting projects.
  • Short-term and long-term mine scheduling and design for underground hard rock mining operations.
  • Leading mining studies, encompassing trade-offs, concept, pre-feasibility, feasibility, and life of mine, including cost modelling and financial evaluations.
  • Contributing to the ongoing enhancement of Micromine software, including our brand-new underground mine scheduling solution (Micromine Advance).
  • Taking on leadership responsibilities for the recruitment, mentoring, and upskilling of junior engineers.

About You

Our preferred candidate will have a strong mining engineering background, including extensive onsite experience across a variety of underground hard rock mining operations.

Other key skills, experience, and qualifications:

  • A tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience in mining studies, design, scheduling, and optimisation for different mining methods and commodities.
  • Advanced proficiency with mining software packages such as Deswik, Datamine, Vulcan, Spry etc.
  • Prior experience with, or a willingness to, seek out new clients for consulting work.
