Are you a highly skilled Cost Manager with a background in Quantity Surveying? Melbourne Airport is seeking a Cost Manager to provide estimating and cost planning expertise for our live and future capital projects. This role is pivotal in managing our partnerships with external Quantity Surveyors and supporting the Melbourne Airport project delivery teams in delivering impactful capital developments.

Key responsibilities:
The role's duties and accountabilities include, but are not limited to:
- Manage Melbourne Airport’s contracts with external Quantity Surveyors, ensuring timely and accurate delivery of cost planning services for capital projects.
- Develop and maintain a cost database of past and ongoing projects, supporting the review and validation of cost plans for current and future initiatives.
- Keep an updated forecast of cost planning needs, helping external Quantity Surveyors plan their workload and prioritise resources.
- Provide cost planning support across various project stages, including:
- Estimating initial costs during the feasibility stage.
- Developing detailed cost plans in the design phase.
- Evaluating tenders during procurement.
- Assessing and certifying variations during construction.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities within project plans, working with teams to implement efficiencies without compromising project quality or objectives.
- Monitor and address any issues or risks impacting budgets, ensuring timely resolution and minimal impact on project timelines.
- Build collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders to foster a high-performance, aligned project team.
The successful candidate will have:
- Tertiary or professional qualification in Quantity Surveying or a related field.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and D365, with experience using project management information systems.
- At least 5 years’ experience in Quantity Surveying on large-scale projects or portfolios.
- Proven track record in project controls and effective cost management.
- Strong ability to drive project progress and work across diverse teams, both internally and externally.
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills and the capacity to manage in a dynamic environment.
- Excellent interpersonal and people management skills, with a focus on cross-functional team collaboration.
