We currently have an exciting new opportunity for a dynamic and experienced Product Manager Aviation Systems to join our Aviation Systems team.

The Product Manager Aviation Systems is responsible for the design, development & delivery of business improvements across all Aviation Systems projects. The role will drive the aviation systems delivery roadmap across airport operations and traveller technology that support our airline partners and frontline team members. As the representative of the aviation business unit, you will lead engagement and build strong partnerships with both internal and external customers. You will work with Technology Business Partners, Infrastructure Program Managers, Project Managers and Consultants from initiation through to delivery. You will champion the traveller experience and operational outcomes to ensure the right solution is delivered at the right time to meet today and future business needs

Key responsibilities:

The role's duties and accountabilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Develop & deliver business improvements across the Aviation business unit including process, people, system, and infrastructure projects throughout the project delivery lifecycle.
  • Constructively challenge the way things are done and develop strategies to continuously improve.
  • Develop a full understanding of future industry trends and technology developments that will improve operational performance and uplift customer experience.
  • Management of the aviation system product roadmap to enables business outcomes to be met.
  • Support contract management activities with key aviation technology vendors.

Project Interface

  • Manage the delivery of Aviation Capital Projects (key focus on system and technology solutions) from design to delivery & go live to enhance the traveller and operator experience.
  • Ensure appropriate stakeholder engagement & sign off is achieved to deliver to meet cost effective and operationally suitable requirements.

Operational Readiness

  • Lead the consistent development and delivery of ORAT (Operational Readiness Activation and Transition) for aviation sponsored technology projects.
  • Manage the effective transition of systems initiative into live operational environments and successful handover completion to operating teams.

Reputational Management & Risk Management Accountability

  • Ensure compliance and risk mitigation are completed through design, development, construction, delivery and ORAT project phases with appropriate stakeholder engagement and sign off.

Stakeholder Management

  • Deliver the stakeholder management and communications strategy for relevant Aviation technology projects and go live of systems.
  • Build and maintain strong partnerships with both internal and external stakeholder groups.

Policy and Process

  • Ensure that the development and implementation of technology projects, process and operational improvement initiatives are supported by appropriate policy and procedures to maximise their impact for the customer, meet
  • Operational/compliance and asset management requirements and deliver cost efficiency on an ongoing basis.

The successful candidate will have:

  • A high level of initiative and flexibility with a proven ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Proven ability to partner with and influence stakeholders to meet Melbourne Airport and airline customer business objectives
  • Strong knowledge and experience within the Aviation industry with a focus on airport operations or airline customer/operations, delivery and strategy
  • Good understanding and demonstratable experience in passenger facilitation technology and/or airport operational systems
  • Ability to learn new systems quickly and in depth
  • Background in recognising opportunities for continuous improvement and developing implementation plans
  • Experience in developing system-based requirements/solutions to drive the right outcome
  • Experience in designing functional workflows and project delivery
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and negotiate with stakeholders at all levels
  • Technical experience in Airline Reservation and Ticketing Systems, Common Use Airport Equipment Systems is a plus
  • Aviation operational knowledge and experience to support the design of end state processes, policies and procedures. ·
  • Experience in management of operational and traveller technology roadmaps.
  • Project design and delivery experience.
  • Advanced experience in developing functional use cases.
  • Proficient in understanding system and integration architecture.
  • Excellent written skills and narrative building ability.
  • Strong verbal engagement skills and experience in delivering to varied stakeholders (internal, external, peer, executive).
  • Proficient problem-solving abilities across a variety of scenarios and work environments
  • Project change management delivery experience
  • Advanced skillset to support design and shaping of process and polices
  • Process mapping ability and experience
  • Able to develop an understanding of impacts of a commercial contract with airline or stakeholder
  • Drive improvements in performance from our supporting vendors to deliver excellence and meet product performance expectations
