We currently have an exciting new opportunity for a dynamic and experienced Business Resilience Manager to join our Aviation team.

The Business Resilience Manager ensures APAC develops a mature level of resilience to emergencies and crises, through stakeholder collaboration, documentation, training and exercising.

Melbourne Airport is taking a proactive approach to the Security of Critical Infrastructure (SOCI) Act. This role is responsible for setting the framework and tools for business units to prepare for, and comply with, SOCI.

This role has an inward view of APAC, supporting the other team member’s outward view. You are responsible for ensuring all elements of business resilience and crisis management meet APAC’s obligations; the development of plans, processes, and procedures; and monitor the training and frequent testing.

The Business Resilience Manager role is responsible for understanding APAC obligations, industry best practice, continuous improvement methodology, assurance measures and critical success factors.

Key responsibilities:

The role's duties and accountabilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Develop and maintain a framework and tools for Melbourne Airport to align with SOCI. 
  • Develop, maintain, and control of the full suite of business resilience tools for business units to use in preparing themselves for the agreed level of resilience in line with industry best practice
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of the Business Resilience Plan and associated documents, ensuring that the documentation is current, compliant, and accessible. 
  • Develop and maintain plans, policy, and procedure to ensure APAC has the agreed level of resilience, including the Crisis Management Plan
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of internal checklists and SOPs associated with the Crisis Management Plan
  • Maintain, and innovate scope for,technology solutions to facilitate crisis response virtualy, in-person, and hybrid.
  • Contribute to the development of the APAC Crisis Management training and development plan.
  • Partake in the planning, exercise control or as a participant in emergency, multi-agency, and major exercises.
  • Support airport response to live incidents, as directed by the Airport Commander or Crisis Chair utilising both regulatory and operation understanding, to ensure the APAC response is measured, effective and compliant. Includes on call requirements and fulfilling support roles in AIIMS/ICCS+ and Crisis Management structures.
  • Manage the APAM crisis and resilience risks, ensuring APAC Risk Register is current, with all identified risks documented with up-to-date treatment and controls.
  • Responsible for promoting APAC’s brand to demonstrate to advance the company’s influence and social licence.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Demonstrated experience in planning organisational resilience, business continuity, crisis management, or emergency management
  • Experience in debriefing post-incident and post-exercise
  • Experience in delivering training or exercising small groups of people from cross-functional areas.
  • Experience in developing and improving strategy
  • Demonstrated ability to create a process from scratch, based on input from workshops and other sources and document that in a concise, useable format
  • Ability to scan industry and beyond for potential new threats and opportunities that may inform the resilience strategy
  • Excellent verbal skills and confident public speaker
  • Excellent written skills in report and procedure writing 
  • Successful track record of internal and external stakeholder engagement skills
  • Demonstratable experience in internal change management across a diverse range of functional areas
