McNab is one of the largest privately owned Construction, Development and Property groups in Australia, with turnover now exceeding $1bn each year. Despite our growth and size, we've never lost our small company DNA and entrepreneurial nature - which centers around genuine care for our staff, customers and all our stakeholders. Success for us isn't about awards or growth, it's when we deliver so well that our customers are proud to wear a McNab T-Shirt on weekends!

We genuinely care. We make it easy. We deliver certainty.

This is our promise - to our clients, and everyone we deal with. Delivering on these three things really, really well is what drives us at McNab. Everything we do, from recruiting and training to performance and promotion, centers around this promise.

We leverage the entire McNab Group to deliver certainty for our clients at a time of unprecedented uncertainty in the industry. And our approach works. From delivering our own property developments, to manufacturing our own building products, and a plethora of aligned businesses, your career at McNab goes well beyond traditional construction roles.

The Head of People Strategy and Enablement role will act as a commercially minded strategic leader that supports the CEO and Owner/Founder with people led business delivery, through intelligent people focused initiatives that respond to the now and continue to drive the McNab Group into the future.

Contributing to group success will be achieved in this role by:

  • Thinking like an operational leader when it comes to performance objectives, but being a people architect to the strategies that support this and ensuring delivery through people
  • Understanding our DNA, people, and how we have performed so well, and bringing innovative people ideas specific to our culture, needs, and goals, so we can continue striving for excellence and growth of our people
  • Thinking ahead and acting as a coach and mentor to the team of close to 20 HR/Recruitment/L&D professionals, who will execute on the ground
  • Driving technological advancements and performance metrics within the people space, so we can look for areas of opportunity and respond quickly
  • Acting as a change manager, influencing outcomes by asking the right questions early and knowing appropriate actions to ensure large work groups are on page quickly and can move forward

What does this mean for you and what will we look for:

  • You may not come from a traditional HR background, perhaps you were an operational leader first with a passion for performance through people
  • You will be able to demonstrate how past people strategies have contributed to business objectives and performance results, and how you have shown creativity and innovation to address specific needs – this part excites you and challenges you, not worries you
  • Regardless of your background, you bring strong people skills and a solid foundation in general people focused practices, which will help you guide and support the team while also protecting the business from risk.
  • You are a confident and inspiring leader in line with our values – you don’t just delegate/manage, you inspire through meaningful conversation and create buy in. You don’t feel vulnerable by how connected the group is across roles and businesses, you welcome feedback and are comfortable giving it to create opportunity and drive results.

We can tell you that once you find your feet and build your relationships in our QLD home grown group, you will find it refreshing to find a people leadership role where you have creative and strategic influence, with a group that genuinely puts its people first. We work hard to create this and there will be challenging days, but we are passionate about what we achieve, we work from the top backwards together to find a way, and more importantly construction/property is an enjoyable industry too. If you think you can contribute to our vision and that this environment sounds fun to you, then we encourage you to apply now or reach out to us for a chat today.
