As Operations Manager you will be leading a business and highly skilled team who are focused on offering quality equipment, delivering exceptional customer service, and ensuring safety is the highest priority. This role with also work in collaboration with our Mcnab General Manager, Human Resources and HSE Business Partners as well as our Finance team to drive profitable growth and build long-term customer relationships.

With our workshop based at Yatala, this role suits candidates from Brisbane and the Gold Coast who are willing and able to travel.

About the role:

  • Coordination of site operations, such as installation and dismantle schedules, managing and dispatching breakdown calls and ensuring machines are routinely serviced. A strong knowledge of hoists, hoist rigging and mechanical aptitude will be essential to this role!  
  • Liaising with our Head Rigger to manage and monitor labour resourcing for adhoc, current and future site bookings. This includes riggers, electricians, and an in-house boilermaker.
  • Build and nurture strong, positive relationships with stakeholders, including internal teams, clients, and contractors, fostering collaboration and trust.
  • Monitor and report progress of works and costs, while identifying risks, efficiencies, and opportunities for continuous improvement and growth.
  • Leading safety and quality compliance (i.e.. hire contracts, purchase orders, employee training/ticket compliance, harness conditions and vehicle checks)
  • Champion and investigate innovative ideas and technologies, implementing new processes to enhance efficiency, safety, and overall performance.
  • Promote a culture of SWMS consultation and development, driving top-tier safety standards.
  • Foster employee growth through regular feedback, performance evaluations, and guidance on improving and building on strengths.
  • Work in partnership with the wider Mcnab Safety, HR and Finance Team with additional support from our General Manager,

What we are looking for:

Tickets & Licenses

  • Cert III in Electrotechnology (ideal but not essential)
  • QTP License (ideal but not essential)
  • Unrestricted QBP License (ideal but not essential)
  • Intermediate or Advanced Riggers Ticket
  • MR/HR license
  • Forklift ticket 
  • Construction White Card


  • Experience within the Hoist (and or Crane) industry essential
  • A strong knowledge of hoist rigging techniques, regulations, industry standards and mechanical aptitude will be essential to this role! 
  • Demonstrated experience in an Operations role and ability to lead, manage and upskill a team effectively.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail and resilience.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and physically demanding environment
