About the role

Reporting to the Head of Finance this role will see you partner with multiple businesses across the McNab Group and provide insights and support for business performance analysis, financial planning, forecasting and investment activities, aiming to enhance profitability and promote growth. You will lead, coach, and develop a team of professionals within the commercial finance function, fostering a collaborative and results-driven environment.

Responsibilities include:

  • Conduct detailed financial analysis and prepare reports for senior management to identify trends and guide decision-making. Monitor key financial metrics and external trends, continuously improving reporting processes to enhance efficiency and focus.
  • Work with commercial leadership to develop strategic business plans that incorporate financial implications.
  • Undertake 3-way forecast cash flow modelling and scenario analysis to evaluate business opportunities while coaching the team on commercial capabilities.
  • Lead the budgeting and forecasting process for commercial departments, ensuring alignment with business objectives and providing financial support for decision-making. Analyse cash flow and cost management to enhance operational efficiency while supporting revenue generation.
  • Utilise advanced financial modelling and business intelligence tools to analyse commercial performance in real-time and develop business cases for new strategic initiatives. Build complex scenario models and analyse market trends to validate future growth prospects and support strategic projects.
  • Support investments and M&A activity by conducting financial due diligence and monitoring post-investment performance. Evaluate investment structures to mitigate risk and ensure targeted returns, while preparing materials for the Investment Committee and managing cash flow forecasts and capital allocation reviews.
  • Provide ongoing coaching and training to the team to develop a deeper understanding of financial principles and their impact on business performance.

About you

  • Tertiary qualifications in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field is essential.
  • MBA or Professional certification such as CFA, CIMA, or ACCA is preferred
  • Previous solid experience in a commercial finance or commercial management role and demonstrated leadership experience
  • Proven ability to influence stakeholders and drive commercial decision-making.
  • Experience leading a commercial team, with a focus on mentoring and developing talent.
  • Strong working knowledge of financial due diligence, M&A, and investment appraisal.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage at all levels.
  • High level of proficiency in financial reporting tools (Power BI, Excel, ERP systems).
  • Strong experience in strategic financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and commercial decision-making.
  • Proven track record of partnering with commercial teams to drive revenue growth, manage costs, and improve profitability.
  • Experience in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment and familiarity with complex pricing models, cost structures, and contract management.
  • Exceptional financial modelling ability and good exposure to internal strategy
  • High standards of accuracy and precision with strong organisational skills
  • High attention to detail, with an ability to dive into and understand underlying facts and drivers
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to create internal relationships and make the complex simple
  • Experience in Construction Industry with familiarity of Jobpac/Viewpoint is highly desirable
