Senior Design Manager

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Design Manager to join our dynamic, experienced, and successful team based in our Brisbane office. This is a great opportunity to step into a senior role where you'll play a crucial part in the business's success. As a key member of the design and estimating team, you'll engage with clients and stakeholders while working closely with project management teams throughout the project lifecycle, from inception to completion.

As a Senior Design Manager at McNab you will be undertake the following:

• Plan and program the design process effectively to ensure all stakeholders act in a timely manner.
• Identify, coordinate and drive consultants to complete detailed design and documentation within specified timeframes.
• Challenge consultants appropriately and act with flexibility and curiosity to come up with effective design solutions and find efficiencies in design.
• Identify and recommend cost effective construction strategies and methodologies, incorporating them into the design.
• Ensure compliance and contractual obligations are met throughout the process and within design.
• Manage client relationships with integrity and fairness, influencing the outcomes you need to ensure effective design.
• As a senior leader within our Design Team, you will not only drive project success but also cultivate a positive culture through mentorship and coaching. Your leadership will inspire other team members to excel and foster their professional growth.

About you

• You will have a passion for design with a commercial mind and have an opportunity to influence the business moving forward.
• Tertiary qualifications in Design or Construction Management coupled with extensive experience in a Design Management role.
• Previous experience working on sizeable new build projects in particular, Industrial or Multi-residential.
• A commitment to coaching and mentoring team members, promoting knowledge sharing and career development.
• A strong commercial awareness and ability to identify cost efficiencies through design.
• Exceptional relationship-building skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with key stakeholders both internal and external.
• An ability to identify and manage risk.
