If you’re creative, enjoy working with your hands, and like being outdoors, bricklaying could be the perfect fit. We have apprenticeships available now!
Bricklayers are highly valued in the construction industry, working alongside all trades and playing a vital role as one of only two structural trades. Bricks and blocks are the most common building products used across construction projects, and skilled bricklayers are always in demand.
Like any career, you’re the master of your own destiny. Bricklaying can be your pathway to becoming a builder, site supervisor, project manager, or stepping into other high-level roles. Many of today’s successful bricklayers are also clever business people who run thriving companies.
However, if you’re thinking all a bricklayer does is lay brick after brick – then think again!
There’s more to being a bricklayer than meets the eye. In fact, a single bricklaying project calls upon a variety of skills.
These include:
- Reading and working from plans and specifications.
- Sealing foundations with damp-resistant materials.
- Spreading layers of mortar to serve as a base and binder for bricks in rows, designs or shapes, and spreading mortar between joints.
- Repairing and maintaining clay bricks, cement blocks/bricks, and related structures.
- Operating brick-cutting machines.
We’re looking for people who are motivated, reliable, and ready to work hard. If that sounds like you, this is a great opportunity to start your career in construction.
Eligibility Criteria
- Construction industry White Card.
- Driver’s licence and own transport preferred.
- Work experience or training in bricklaying/blocklaying advantageous, but not essential.
Once your application has been reviewed, successful applicants will be contacted via email, phone and/or via SMS.
