This is a Part-Time (but for the right candidate we can offer Full-Time), Fixed Term until 30/06/2025 opportunity based in Melton within our Child, Family and Community program. The position reports to the Integrated Family Services Coordinator.

 

Key Selection Criteria:

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Complete initial and ongoing risk and wellbeing assessment and as appropriate consult with Child Protection, Aboriginal and other culturally specific services.
  • Provide culturally competent case management support to actively engage with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander children, young people and their families, in partnership with early years programs and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander agencies. 
  • Participate in facilitation of group work with vulnerable children, young people and their families, supporting warm referral and brief intervention work with other services as required, in a timely manner. 
  • Provide information and advice to stakeholders about the role of Child Protection, The Orange Door, and Integrated Family Services, as well as other referral points

Key Selection Criteria:

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • A knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal culture and values and an awareness of the current issues faced by Aboriginal children, young people and their families.
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise, lead and support a team of residential care workers.
  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge of the residential care field, particularly within a therapeutic environment.
  • Proven ability to relate to and work with young people with social, emotional and behavioural difficulties.

Requirements:

  • Hold a current and valid Driver’s Licence;
  • Hold a current and valid Employee Working with Children Check
  • Satisfactory Criminal History Check (paid for by MacKillop);
  • Hold a valid and current NDIS Workers Screening Check
  • Relevant Diploma with substantial experience, including four (4) additional mandatory competencies (top up units)
